Return of The King was AWESOME!
Seriously, go see it. I never saw part two and still loved the movie. =)

I'm going to read the books eventually.

2. Skip the books now
You've ruined it for yourself.

The greatest joy of watching the first movie was seeing how the characters compared to my imagined images of them, from their descriptions in the book. Also, as faithful as the movies are to the books, liberties were still taken that will only add confusion to an otherwise great read. And personally, I had a very hard time making it through #2. It was so heavy with history and character development, it found it boring. Read "The Hobbit" now, though, while you still can. A fantastic prequal, which should have come out before the trilogy, IMO.

4. Nah, I'm still going to read them...
I started reading the Hobbit once and never wound up finishing it for some reason, I think I might have had to give the book back to the person I borrowed it from. :p

I have a vivid imagination, the movie won't affect it much when I'm reading.

5. I love the books and the movies were excellent.
Go ahead and read the books, they add so much more to the movies, and yes many plot lines and characters are missing from the movies, but IMHO Jackson did a wonderful job conveying the main story line and the main characters.

There are those who are purists and would not be happy with any movie version of the books, but that is just their opinion.

As a lover of the books, I LOVED the movies.
