It's official: Abbie is the new 11lb addition to my household
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 01:01 PM by LynneSin
We just came back from the vet. There is no microchip and the vet had never seen the cat before. So I'm going to go around today and remove what signs are left. After a $150 vet bill (and gosh knows how many hundreds I've bought in pet supplies), Abbie is now officially my pet. He's even on my lease starting January 1st (I have to pay an extra $20 a month for a pet).

Abbie's weight is 11lbs but the Vet said he's all muscles and quite big boned for a cat. He said I should have to worry about trying to make Abbie lose weight as long as he's active.

Abbie was negative for worms, FIV and Feline Leukemia. He's had his Rabies and Distemper shots. The Vet commented that he never saw a cat so calm while getting blood drawn. My cat is a real trooper.

Unfortunately Abbie does have mites and some fleas (even though he's had a flea collar, but it's expected since he was found outdoors). So I have medicine to apply to help clear up that mess. Oh, and the marble bag has its marbles in them - so Abbie goes back in a month for his booster shot and......to be fixed.

Doc says Abbie probably isn't even a year old yet and has great teeth and thinks it was fate that the cat would find such a great person to adopt him!!

8. Great News! Congrats on becoming a new cat serf!
Perhaps one of your friends will get you a sign, as did one of mine. "Cats and their houskeeping staff live here". I have it hanging on our front door. Kudos to you, and give Abbie a chin scratch for us.:hi:

10. When I found out he wasn't fixed - I knew he was mine
Abbie was an abandoned cat and whoever had him earlier didn't care enough to treat him right. They didn't even bothered to do the decent thing and have him fixed - they just tossed a flea collar on him and tossed him out.

I plan on giving my Abbott the best feline years of his life. He will live the life of a pampered cat. At this point if someone did come and claim the cat I wouldn't return him.

13. Yay! Sounds like he's quite a guy....
we've got four cats, one of which is male, and he's the most affectionate creature we've ever lived with. You'd written in other posts about urine odor, and while male urine never really loses its particular unmistakeable smell, once the guy is fixed the pungency seems to decrease (at least in my experience).
