Favorite Cary Grant film

Poll question: Favorite Cary Grant film

David Thomson in his massive book of film calls Grant, "The Greatest film Actor of all-time." That is taking quite a stand, but I agree. His screen persona has been much copied but never equalled. It is debatable but I feel he starred in more classic films than any other star of the classic period (30's thru 50's) with the only possible runner-ups being James Stewart and John Wayne (in terms of total number of undisputed classic films).

Not a particularly great movie.

2. That was hard!

I had to go with the added physical comedy in Bringing up Baby. You don't normally think of Cary Grant as someone who could do pratfalls.

One of the greatest lines of moviedom happens where the sherrif asks him who's in his gang, and he answers, "Donald the Duck and Mickey the Mouse."

see "The Awful Truth", "Baby", "I was a Male War Bride", "Monkey Business", "The Bachelor and the Bobby-soxer", and "Arsenic and Old Lace" for more examples. Oh, and "Holiday" is another perfect example.

10. I've watched Bringing Up Baby so many times I can't even

imagine how many, and I always laugh whenever I see it. He was great and so was Kate Hepburn.

Cary Grant was such a great actor, no one even comes close to his talents in comedy or drama.

Talk of the Town - with Jean Arthur and Ron Coleman when Grant plays is a small-town political agitator - very good, funny and says alot our legal system!

People will Talk - with Jeanne Crain

Indiscreet - with Ingrid Bergman


and just about any other of his movies.

the funniest, best, just most hillarious movie I've ever seen....

He played the part SO WELL---I've seen stage performances of A&OL and the lead just sucked. Just sucked. He was the perfect casting for that movie....

And true fans must not miss "Holiday" and "The Talk of the Town." Both aren't as well known as the above titles, but they're very much worth checking out.

27. I've seen most of these, but

I got to see a restored copy of 'The Philadelphia Story' in a historic proscenium arch cinema a couple of summers ago. I'd never seen any of Cary Grant's -- or Katharine Hepburn's, for that matter -- movies on the big screen, always on TV. I'm sure I'd have other favorites, if I'd ever seen any of them in a real theater.
