Hey, look. I don't watch a lot of TV, so yeah I know this thing is going into its third year, but cut me some slack, eh? I found "The Story So Far" on demand and decided to check it out so that I'm down with my geek-speak. But then I also watched the three episodes available on demand and suddenly, I think it's really quite cool.
I will tell you what I particularly like about it. This series takes cues from my favorite video game ever,
Homeworld. It has semi-Newtonian physics (the little fighter planes act exactly like the scouts in Homeworld), no stupid laser guns, and minimal to no sound in space. There are also references to resource collection and mining operations. I thought I could even hear snippets of the Vangelis-inspired Homeworld soundtrack in the musical score during the space battle scenes.
That's pretty cool. Homeworld itself was prety much a knock-off of the original Battlestar Galactica, so it's neat to see the new series take the best of both. I think I might try to watch it more often.
One thing: the steadicam was invented years ago. Why doesn't anyone use it anymore?
