Pimp my Ford Probe! What's the most pointless tricked-out car you've seen
lately?

I was behind a Ford Probe with mags (not a GT) on an entrance ramp and then on the freeway. I laughed my ass off and, I admit to my shame, laughed and pointed on the off chance he might be looking in the rearview mirror.

And you?

1. Dodge Neons are pretty funny.
I guess they're decent cars, but putting a big soup can on the tailpipe doesn't make your car any faster.

Here's a fun site: www.laughatrice.com

2. Any tricked out PT Cruiser.
The second DUMBEST car next to the Honda Element. All the style and depth of a McMansion.

spoiler (the kind that is just plain metal), spinner rims and a giant muffler. The best part about this...

I was driving my fully loaded turbo-charged Saab and this asshat ricer pulls up next to me, honks and starts revving his engine.

When the light turned green, I let him go first, then I burned him. Stuff like that happened a few times. I just don't get how these clowns think that if they put a loud muffler & a bigass spoiler on their car, it will somehow magically become faster than a car with twice the horsepower.

25. LMFAO!!!
 I actually blew off a lowrider POS (think it was a crappy old Nissan Maxima that had been tricked out) while driving a five-speed Ford Escort wagon once (that's hubby's car). Wasn't as cool as you blowing off that asshole while driving a Saab, but you know it's damn sad when an Escort can outrun a pimpmobile...

4. All of them.

"Pimping out" your car is so incredibly obnoxious. People who do this invariably have no sense of aesthetics and usually issues wih their hearing, since they don't relize just how fucking loud their cars are.

23. Damn, matcom! I must've seen the same Gremlin..
 :yoiks: I'm assuming it was the one with curb feelers too and a cheesy-looking spoiler that had been added VERY badly. Was it purple with white stripes? If so, then it's the exact same one I saw.

:P I was just gonna say Gremlin when I saw your reply....

10. The most upsetting aspect of that is.....
My everyday driver is a '93 Integra LS.

But mine is white. I do have aftermarket taillights and rims, but those were out of necessity.

17. The last time I ran a thread like this, somebody (probably DS1)
posted a wildly funny picture of a car with an ironing board for the spoiler. Possibly non-photoshopped...

That thread was inspired by all the '70s-early '80s Caprice Classics people pimp out around here, a phenomenon which still bewilders me.

8. The "Pimp My Ride" fad is quite popular in Orange County:
I once saw a tricked out 1987 Ford Bronco crusing down highway 55.

13. I was actually going to help a friend customize their '84 Bronco...
we were going to paint it cow colors, because the truck was so fucking slow and useless. Our plans were thwarted when it uncerimoniously died on her street.

"Hey haruka, I don't know if we'll be turning Devil Dog (the original colors) into a cow"

"Uh, oh...what happened?"

"It's stuck. It can't get through the snow. I'm stuck down at the end of my road."

"Dude, you have 4WD."

"Yeah, but it's on the hill."

"There's no hill there; there's a slight incline."

"Yeah, I know. My mom was right. My dad was trying to kill me giving me this thing."

"It's not the first time. I remember when he tried to feed you Dinty Moore Stew. I knew something was wrong when the house smelled like meat."

"Don't remind me. Anyway, the tow truck is here because I can't leave my dead fucking car on the street in the snow."

22. Any car that's worth less than its stereo.
I see all kinds of Scions around here, festooned with every aftermarket geegaw available, wheezing along the fast lane of the freeway with their half-liter engines, belting out 5,000 decibels of 'music'. For every notch on the volume control, the cars lose 5 mph off their top speed.

14. A Ford Grenada
Really.

I think that takes the cake, right there. I mean, those things were uncool and utter crap when they were brand spanking new. The designer's mom probably disowned him, and some idjit bought one twenty years later, lowered it and put rims on? I hope they replaced the 8 track too, but all that money trying to fix the thing up could have bought a less laughable car.

The suspension put the floor about 7 feet off the ground. That was one ugly car.

27. I'd have to go with a 1990 Ford Taurus(brown) with raised metal spoiler.
I actually felt sorry for the kid. A close second would be any Dodge Neon, Honda Civic with spoiler and exhaust mods. I love hearing those cars... WEEEEEZZZ WEEEEZZZZZ.

This entire generation is missing out on the seductive sounds of a gurgling V8 muscle car.

As a side note what is with all the ridiculous tail light replacements that are clear plastic/silver deals, all of those on ALL cars look stupid
