Poll question: Which film sucks less?

Both are horrible to the point of being unwatchable, and anyone who says otherwise is wholly daft.

But if, on pain of death, you had to watch one or the other from start to finish, which would it be?

I think that you're thinking of Richard Lewis. Not the classic heart-throb, but YMMV.

Alan Rickman played in Kevin Costner's horrible Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but at least Rickman was enjoyable on-screen!

Spaceballs is the last decent Mel Brooks movie, it is not unwatchable. Men in Tights was just a cannibalization of his earlier great work.

Watching Spaceballs is like having to chew a jumbo wad of tinfoil while wearing braces and standing in a 55 gallon drum filled with icy-cold brine. Watching Robin Hood Men in Tights is like watching Spaceballs, but having to also watch Spaceballs while you chew.

Then I think it's just amazing that you can be wrong 100% of the time! :evilgrin:

For me, I think the rule of thumb has to be that a spoof needs to be able to stand on its own, as though the material being spoofed had never existed. Spaceballs fails this test IMO, and Robin Hood: MiT certainly does. Young Frankenstein, in contrast, is funny even if you've never seen the original Frankenstein film.

YMMV, of course, even if you're always wrong! ;)
