Just watched a fascinating documentary on PBS about Andy Warhol, in the meantime, while scanning DU. I'd never heard the details of the shooting that changed his life. Really a weird time for us all, in 1968, eh? I guess the Robert Kennedy assassination coming only days after Warhol's shotting (by a mentally deranged "fan" of sorts) was why I hadn't heard more about the latter at the time.

The reading from Warhol's own diaries re the shooting and death and dying was truly riveting. Deep thinker, the man was. Among other things.
