I don't want it to be Autumn!
:(

I always get just a little miserable this time of year at the thought of winter. Add to the fact that the city just chopped down 10 beautiful ash trees on my tree lined street. Trying to be proactive in fighting Emerald Ash Borer...but still... Those trees were big and beautiful and really made the neighborhood. Now the last half of the street is just a bunch of stumps. We should just give it up and take the house off the market. The fates be conspiring against us. :hi:

1. I know how you feel about autumn
There is something sad about it. Don't take your house off the market either. It's going to sell. Just imagine the perfect people signing the paperwork and see yourself out of there and in your new beautiful home. Good vibes for a "sold" house.

It's just a morning of discontent I guess. The weather just changes so quickly here.

2. Yesterday was beautiful and sunny
I was sitting in the garden reading until about 8 o'clock (when the light faded too much).

Today it's raining... :(

I'm definitly with you here, I think that autumn may well be my least favourite season.

5. I love the 60-70 degree weather, but we don't get enough of them.
:(

It is my least favorite season as well. I've even tried light therapy but I guess it works out to be more than that.

It's good to see you!

17. Hi, Mrs. G!
What type of light therapy did you try? I used to feel the same way you do, but I got a light therapy box from the Alaska Northern Lights Company. Theirs worked miracles for me when several other types had failed. Just a suggestion, and no, I don't work for them! I live in Alabama and have been no farther west than Salt Lake City. :)

I hope you feel better soon!

37. Sorry about the rain
:(

Reading in the garden sounds serene.

Autumn sadness for me is bittersweet--starts out lovely and reminiscent of the best of summer and devolves into "Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

3. I LOVE Autumn. However, I am not about to be in it.
For us, winter is not a time of stillness or coldness or even lifelessness. Here is all you need to know about Aussie weather:

Summer = Too Fucking Hot.

The end.

7. R_A...
Good to see you! :hi:

My cousin-in-law (and good friend) went to Sydney for a New Year's wedding (2000) and said it was just perfect.

10. I have to admit, now that I have moved to Sydney, it is not that bad.
Sydney is not too hot, though if you stayed there for a while I suspect you might think otherwise!

But of course it was just perfect. Weather like that is good for tourism, and tourism flourishes here. :)

6. Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year
The temperature cools down, it feels like a cool shower after a really hot day. The combination of beauty and meloncholy is absolutely exquisite. Putting the garden and orchard to sleep brings about a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. The smell of the leaves and smoke on the wind is grand. And it is absolutely, mind achingly beautiful to take a spin on the scooter through the backwoods on a crisp fall morning.

Fall is my favorite time of year. And no, I don't mind winter either, in fact I prefer winter over summer. Summer is just too damn hot, and lately too damn dry.

11. It's too short here...
:( I love the weather, hate the shortness and it feels like a harbinger of things to come. I was raised in WI even and I still can't stand it.

Jessie (our sheltie) put our garden down for the cooler months when she developed a taste for tomatoes... She ate every single one as they ripened. :D

36. LOL, well at least a member of your family benefitted
Last month, I was checking the corn for to see if it was ready to pick. Determined that it had a couple of more days left, and sure enough, that night the deer and racoons came in and ate every single ear. I think next year when it gets to be that time, I'm going to leave the dogs out overnight in the garden.

But hey, I've got peppers, both sweet and hot, coming out the wazoo, along with cucumbers and potatoes.

Hope that Jessie didn't develop any intestinal problems from her feast. One of my pups likes to eat acorns this time of year, and she becomes quite the gaseous pup x(

8. Good morning MrsG
I can't wait for some autumn weather down here after breathing five months of indoor air I can't wait to open the windows up in the house and breath fresh air again. Down here we have a five month or longer period of extremely hot and humid weather. Even the rain is a welcome change.

9. I love autumn, but
I'm not looking forward to winter. I HATE being cold. Fortunately, it's doesn't last long down here.
It's been pretty hot down here this year, so it's been nice to have a break lately.
I bet you have a really LONG winter up there - I'd be bummed too! :hi:

Even with a childhood spent mostly in WI (where I was born) I have never gotten used to it. :hi:

It has gotten far too cold too fast. I'm refusing to turn on my furnace though! Yesterday morning I woke up to temps of 37, at least this morning it's a balmy 54.

Oh and good luck on the house. Sending good vibes that just the perfect buyer comes along.

We're probably going to take it off the market next week. The market just doesn't exist here right now. Arms length transactions just can't compete with the foreclosure sales right now.

16. can i join the Amen Chorus?
don't get me wrong -- i love the colours of the fall -- but the way the sun falls lower on the horizon --
the lengthening shadows -- that makes me sad.

my flowers are well past their zenith -- and oh so tired -- soon i will put them to bed.

winter is not my time of year -- it's cold and rainy and you barely see the sun -- dark by 4 or 4:30 -- just not fun.

except for christmas of course which i love.

---and people still sneak ash trees lumber into campsites all over MI so more ash trees will die and leave sad little stumps.

I love it.

I love seeing the leaves change color. I love the crisp fall air. Heck, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I always look forward to fall every year.

The worst time of the year for me is winter, especially after New Years Day. Bleh.
