How do you get a stale odor out of a closet?

I'm trying everything....


fresh air,
baking soda (to absorb odor)
air freshener...


but there's still this stale odor coming from my bedroom closet. Any suggestions on what else to use?

7. Have you washed/dry cleaned everything in it?

If everything is clean, including the floors/carpeting, you might have a mold problem. If that is the case, be sure to check it out soon. If it's not the case, you might try cedar blocks...they smell nice and keep away moths.

Take everything out of the closet. Open windows. If there is carpet, sprinkle baking soda/ carpet powder on the carpet. Wipe down the walls with cleaner. Vacuum the powder. Put a fan in there and circulate the air.

After a while, stick some baking soda in there and close the door. Periodically open the door and air it out.

It will always stink, unless you remove the source of the stink and then move the stinky air out of there.

keep the used grounds in and place them in the closet for a while.

28. A dish of white vinegar set in the closet for a day or so..

or get some activated charcoal. You could also get some cedar shavings (like the kind they sell for hamster cages) and put a big open pan of that in there for a day or so.
