Have you ever wondered what each ornament symbolizes?
Here are some German Christmas Ornament Legends!

Pickle - hidden in the tree, to be found by the most observant child, who receives a special gift from St. Nicholas

Fir Tree - reminder of Christ's gift of everlasting life

Carrot - brings good luck in the kitchen

Fish - Christ's blessing

Walnut - memorialize the painted walnuts that served as ornaments on early Christmas trees

Carp - commemorates the Christmas feast

Snowman - reflection of childhood memories

Corn - bounty and blessing

Ladybugs - named in honor of Mary, 'Our Lady'

Frog - predictor of the weather

Acorn - 'from little acorns, come mighty oaks'

Tomato - red and green colors commemorate Christmas

Grapes - symbol of friendship and sharing

Star - guidance and faith

Holy Cross - Christ's redemption

Oranges - a prized reward for good girls and boys

Bird - messengers of joy and love

Rabbit - hope and faith in Christ for protection and guidance

Bell - merriment of the holiday season

Rose - expression of love, affection and beauty

Chimney Sweep - good luck

Garlic - miraculous healing and healthy heart

House - shelter and protection

Santa - good will

Apple - traditional Christian symbol of temptation

Tea/Coffee Pot - hospitality

Angel - purity, peace, love and guidance

Heart - true love

Pine Cone - motherhood and fertility

Baskets - plentiful good wishes and selfless giving

4. No, but that would be why we have room to plant more, as
opposed to the chemical variants so popular now.

I used houseplants in the past, but since married I have comprimised and now have a fake tree.
