WOOHOO!! I have a job interview on Monday!!

As some of you know, I lost my job yesterday (well, technically, it ends on Monday morning, as I have some things I need to finish up). Here's the thread about it:

Anyway, I just talked to a man I used to work with in my field, who now owns his own company. I also have a really good friend who works there, and when I called my friend yesterday, he gave a shout out to the company owner, and the owner wanted me to call him. Just got off the phone with him, and I'll be meeting with him on Monday.

The other job possibility is still out there too.......

I'm starting over again down in Florida this winter! I've been tryin' to leave New York for many years and now it's goin' to happen. My house will go on the market next spring. I doubt that I'll see UpState again after this November except for the time next summer when I'll be packing everything for the man in moving van.

26. This winter I've rented a little place in Fort Lauderdale.

I don't want to live there but it'll give me a place to park my trike and my parrot while I'm looking for a house to rent with an option to buy a little bit more north and inland. The rural areas still exist if you hunt for them.

Job searching is such a major pain in this economy. I had a lot of difficulty even getting interviews. "Networking" seems to be the best (almost only?!) way to find an interview/job these days. It worked for me and now it will hopefully work for you as well.

Fortunately, the industry I work in is relative small, and specialized. Plus, I've worked in it for over 16 years, so know lots of folks, some of whom I've worked with before at other companies, so again, I think I will be re-employed very soon.
