I've decided to be happy living in North Texas. Here's the thing..
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 09:23 PM by KC2
Since I've been back from Hawaii I've done a lot of soul searching, day-dreaming, scheming, and even crying. I've been racking my brain about ways my husband and I could live in Hawaii. Believe it or not (and, I'm sure most of you who know me won't be surprised by this) I even started to write Oprah Winfrey an email...asking for suggestions (I know, that's pretty lame). Luckily, I deleted the email before sending it.

Tonight, my husband reminded me how lucky we are, and how his cousin is the one with the real problem (cancer), as well as many other people. Plus, my husband and I went outside and enjoyed a beautiful evening here...right here in North Texas; and I realized this: It's not what a person wants. or what they have that will make a them happy...and it's not where a person lives.

It's like the line in "Carefree Highway":

Now the thing that I call livin' is just bein' satisfied with knowin' I got no one left to blame.

Yes, someday, if by some miracle, we are fortunate enough to live in Hawaii (and afford it), I certainly won't pass up the opportunity. But, I've decided...from this day forward...not to dwell on it or feel deprived that we're not there now.

I just felt like sharing this. Hope I haven't bored everyone to tears!

Here's one more "for the road," taken two weeks ago, snorkeling in Lanai:

1. Lucky me, I'm in Austin, but I'm feelin' you
I was trapped in NE Texas for nine months over the past year, and I couldn't wait to get down here... but it could be worse. You could be in Oklahoma.

5. I totally understand.
My husband is from Hawai'i, and I was an island girl (South Pacific) for a couple of years. We would love to live in Hawai'i. But no way in hell can we afford it right now. We both really want to get back to the islands. And we'd love to raise our girl there.

I'm right there with you on this one. May we both someday live in Hawai'i!!

6. My dear KC2........
How about: Bloom where you're planted?

And I do hope that one day you will be able to live in Hawaii!

It's a goal..........and a good one, I think!

down in the West Village sometime for some wine and appetizers.

We're a bunch of funny gay boys and girls, always cracking jokes. :D

Tonight was just beautiful. Nice weather, sexy people, sexy cars, abundant energy.

15. Sounds fun....I'll add you to my buddy list, for sure! Sounds fun!
My husband is extremely paranoid, though, and refuses to have any meet-ups. Now that I at least post pics, I'm hoping some day he'll change his mind (baby steps)!

Agreed...tonight was a beautiful evening here. :)

Keep in touch! :toast:

16. Happiness consists not of getting what you want,
but in being content with what you have. (I must have read that in a fortune cookie!)

17. So true!
Well, to an extent. There are quite a few people who don't get much of anything they want, though. But, I do know what you are saying...and, thanks. :hi:
