4. somethingawful.com forums.. The crowd there is a lot younger, on the

average, than over here, and it's not fundamentally a political site, it's just a goofy irreverent humor site that started out I think from gaming culture, there's a wikipedia entry on it.

I do have to say that it has, easily, the best moderation of debate/argument that I've ever seen on any site (it has forums devoted to flamewars, debate etc. where the politics and stuff live). Despite a lot of unsophisticated arguments and thinking, (I'd put the average age as early 20's) the tone never seems to degenerate into flat out nastiness. The moderators are very active and temporarily suspend or ban people very frequently:

The fact that you have to be a paying member to have an account and post probably weeds out at least 2/3 or so of the nastiness and disruptive trolls. A 10 buck credit card fee is a major screening filter, particularly in the teenage and early 20's population.
