with it. I only joined to keep tabs on my daughter, but she changed her screen name there so I lost track of her. I take it I'm supposed to network with people, or something, but I'm not the most social person in the world.

Last FM's great for listening to certain genres and Pure Volume's good if you know what band you're looking for. Neither of them offer the networking capabilities of MySpace, which lets me get in touch with local groups, which I need to do because of my work as a music journalist.

Also, I really don't consider myspace to be "giving money to Fox News" -- it's a free service, after all.

I wish they would have had a MySpace when I was younger and in bands. I use it for my music and I have met some great musicians out there that I would have never got to hear otherwise.

It isn't just a "kid" thing. There are a lot of people using that service and I think it is pretty cool to set up networks with each other. It is a great tool for entertainers, artists and the like.

I don't go there as much as I did when it was new. I joined when I saw John and Elizabeth Edwards had accounts. John has replies to my friend request, but Elizabeth Edward's did not. so I decided to go and check it out, out of curiosity. I have a page, and I went to a 20somethings chat room ONCE, and then I got bored. I've thought about it a little bit, but have never made one. I do have a LiveJournal, even though I don't update very regularly, and it's filled with inside jokes between me and my friends. I don't know... I just like that site more, even if you can't technically do as much with it as you can on MySpace. I'm an introvert and LiveJournal seems more fitting as a place to just talk about life/what's on your mind. MySpace seems more for extroverts; more for "networking" and making half-hearted friendships. But it's cool for anyone who has fun with it; I'm just not sure it would be for me.
