WOO HOO!!! I got the apartment I wanted!

Just got the call. My move-in date is the 1st of the month. At $430 per month plus electric it's more than I really wanted to pay, but it's actually less than I thought I'd end up forking over. At least it's a price I can afford.

It's a little freaky- I've been renting a room from my sister for eight years, and suddenly I'm going to be going back to bachelorhood aloneness. Although I look forward to the peace, I'll miss her dog coming to me for walkies twice a day. My cat doesn't do walkies, so I guess I'm doomed to become lazy again. *sigh*

Still, it's time, and I really look forward to it.

Is it in a good location?

We're about to close on the sale of my condo, and we're moving into a 1 bedroom apt in the west village until we find a house. We're paying $1750 for 1100 sq. ft.

9. For me, it's an EXCELLENT location.

Right next to an interstate on-ramp, and just a couple blocks from a Starbucks. As the crow flies it's less than two miles from where I am now, so I'm still within easy driving reach of some of my better clients.

Back in the 70s. I was in uniform when I applied to rent with the super (she once worked for as an assistant for a state congressman in VA). Nice, chatty lady. Wanted to see a picture of my wife. I knew what she really wanted to see - that ours was not a mixed marriage.

11. That's great news - the only thing I don't like about living alone

is cleaning the damn apartment - a real pain in the ass. But you'll enjoy all the extra space (more room for all the junk you'll accumulate).

I'm a lousy cook. My sister is a great cook. I never had to pick up a frying pan. Now I'll have to. :cry:

- trial and error. I find cooking can be fun, but I keep it simple. Washing the dishes afterwards on the other hand.......:thumbsdown:
