place a sugary substance in a bottle, like snapple for example. Then, make a "funnel" with a piece of paper and insert it into the bottle. The funnel should be big on top and small inside the bottle, tight enough so no spaces around the opening. Make sure the bottom of the funnel doesn't thouch the liquid either. The flies fly in, but are too stupid to figure out the way out! Then just cap the bottle and chuck...just dont take out the paper funnel, or all the flies are back in your place...

I have a bird, so in the summer I am far too familiar with them. Hope this helps...

4. Leave a bottle of cheap white zinfandel almost empty.
They will fly down into the bottle and drown.

Works amazingly well.

5. We get them this time of year....
We get them this time of year. I wash down the garbage can really well, keep the sink and disposal really clean, keep fruit & veges in fridge or sealed container. They also seem to migrate towards a toothbrush if it's left out on the bathroom sink, so I really rinse the brushes off and store under the sink. It doesn't totally get rid of them, but don't have as many. They eventually die out.
