So I ate at Medieval Times on Saturday night
And... I enjoyed it. It was my girlfriend and my's first anniversary and we love renn faires and that sort of thing and decided we'd rather spend the money on silly Medieval Times than on a traditional fancy restaurant. We even bought beer steins!

So it was a themed chain restaurant and I enjoyed it without irony. Can I still be cool or is it all over now?

:D :D

1. As long as you didn't refer to your gf as a 'wench' every single
time that you spoke to her, then you can still be cool...

5. She isn't very wench-like, really
I have been known to call her cabin boy, though. :D

10. You should go sometime
You get to wear a paper crown all night and eat with your hands--what could be better?

3. My mom made me go to one of those last time I visited her...
I initially resisted because I thought it would be too campy and stupid but I gotta say after a few mugs of ale I really go into the show. The actors who preform there are remarkable athletes...so in my opinion you get to retain your coolness

6. No kidding--some of those falls (from running horses!)
take a lot of skill to pull off. It is campy but also a lot of fun. Ale helps, tho'! :toast:

4. I've been wondering what the place is like...
Was the food good? Do they have decent brew; or is it Bud & Friends?

8. I liked the food and the beer
It's nothing special but it's tasty enough. The menu is always the same: bowl of veggie soup, garlic roll, half a roasted bone-in chicken, a sparerib, half a roasted potato, and a pastry of some sort. They serve coffee, Pepsi and iced tea and have a cash bar (that takes credit cards). At the one I went to, in Maryland, they had Sam Adam's Octoberfest and Killians in addition to the Budweiser/Coors stuff and it was all on tap so I appreciated that. They gouge you with the booze prices but if you're moderate and resist buying trinkets you can get away with a respectably priced evening. The tickets are about $50 adults and that includes the meal and a two-hour show.

The show itself is campy but pretty fun, especially after said brews, and altho' the place is predictably full of kids they are very entertained by the proceedings and so aren't running around like banshees.

11. Did you go to the one at Arundel Mills?
That's the one closest to us. We love the movie theater there, too.

$50 isn't bad...and I always get coupons for a free birthday entry when accompanied by a paying adult. I might check it out sometime. Thanks for the review! :hi:

16. Yes! I find that mall really scary
Their movie theater looks kind of neat but I've never seen a movie in it. Of course, since it was a Saturday night, my woman and I had to park 1393948 miles away from the restaurant and therefore we had to walk all the way thru the mall. I don't like malls in general but something about the eye-melting decor of that place amplifies the "gaah mall! abort mission!" feeling I get. :D

17. I'm not wild about malls; but the movie theaters there are big
I love the stadium seating. And when I've taken my kid there for a weekday matinee, there have been times when we were the only two people there. I don't know how long they'll be able to afford giving us private showings; but we'll enjoy them while we can!

7. I took my niece and nephew there when they were younger
We had a blast. It is what it is... and that's okay.

And, I enjoyed it without irony, too.

12. When I was in Tampa years ago, my friend took us
I went to Clearwater with my roommate years ago to visit our friend and he took us to that place. In the middle of dinner he stands up and shouts "King... Shall we joust?" People started looking our way and he yelled it again. After a few minutes the guy standing next to the king got up to the microphone and told my buddy to stand. He was trying to push me up and the guys said "No, you in the blue tank top". My buddy stood up and challenged the king again. The guy at the mic said that the king was looking for a leader of his jackasses and wanted my friend to be the leader..lol.

It was funny as hell. Guess you had to be there.

13. I went to a Medieval Times restaurant once with a busload of
of friends. We were already buzzed by the time we got there, and then proceeded to have one of the best times ever while we were there! We all dressed in costumes and stuff, had a King and Queen of the Court. If we needed to go to the bathroom, we had to ask permission, and, before it was granted, the King and Queen would make us tell a joke, sing a song, do a dance, or something. An absolute riot!
