Well, not really a big special, it's just the first time one of our own gets mentioned in my long history of these threads. Ok, so it has only been a week, but that is a long time for a dragonfly. (It has a lifespan of 24 hours)
A Happy Birthday to our very own XNASA. One time keyboardist for that techno-disco musical outfit Ministry.
Below: XNASA poses with some friends in his Ministry days. Second from left:
2003 - Robert Palmer, best known for videos with women dressed in black mini-skirts dies of severe obscuritis. Millions of people are quoted as asking "Oh, he was still alive?"
1945 - Happy Birthday to Brian Ferry of Roxy Music. Millions of people are quoted as saying "Oh, I thought that was Robert Palmer.
1999 - The Dixie Chicks went to No.1 on the US album chart with 'Fly.' Then Governor of Texas George Bush proudly comments "I'm stoked, they are from my home state you know?"
1981 - Bruce Dickinson joins Iron Maiden. Bruce is best known for his patented "one foot on the monitor and look like a rock star" move.
1992 - Belinda Carlisle goes to No.1 on the UK album chart with 'The Best Of Belinda Volume 1'. Helping it along was the fact that the CD came free inside specially marked boxes of Fruit Loops. Both songs on the CD failed to top the charts as singles.
1981 - Genesis scored their second UK No.1 album with 'Adacab.' Phil Collins (seen below) is said to be "overjoyed".
1998 - After sustaining a pulled ligament from a misplaced cable during his performance at the Trump Marina Theater in Atlantic City, N.J., Prince postpones his remaining tour dates. Doctors comment "Unfortunately, that ligament makes up 98% of Mr. Prince's leg, he will be unable to perform."
1975 - "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" opens in theatres. For the next 31 years flocks of people with no sense of self-pride go to the shows dressed as their favorite characters, play act the scenes, throw toast and then go back home to their parent's basements ready to do it all over again the following week.
1988 - Keith Richards releases his first solo album, "Talk Is Cheap." Yes Keith, Talk IS cheap, but blood transfusions aren't.
That's it....
