Dean Koontz writes car-chase scenes into all his novels

It is a hackneyed standard meant only for television, and is an absolutely absurd (and boring) device on the written page. But, then, that's what Koontz writes his books for: the TV deal.

Koontz writes great horror books for those that are put on the edge of their seats by "Murder, She Wrote".

I'm just very angry at Dean Koontz today. Can somebody write some really great horror stories?

1. Yeah, Koontz is nothing but pablum.

One of the most horrifying things I've ever read (gave me nightmares for weeks) was Poe's "Premature Burial". His description of being buried alive completely freaked me out. A short story - you can read it here:

3. Have you tried Bentley Little?

I don't consider him a master but he's definitely better than Koontz and reasonably entertaining. The only Koontz novel I ever read that was even bearable was Watchers. The other three pretty much sucked.
