So, I finished my first day at work

The director of the school renovated a barn on her property and started a preschool and the first day with the children was today. I'm working as an assistant and it was a great day. Watching the 3-4 yr. old children walk all around the place and explore with their eyes wide open with excitement was just awesome. I've been a stay-at-home mom for a couple of years and it's nice to get back to work. I'm doing something that I think I'll be able to enjoy and my children will still have me at home during days off and after school. Pretty nice. :)

2. Mine are 8 and 11

Both in elementary school and I needed to find something that will earn money, but not have to use daycare. This was the best solution. I tried assisting in a montessori school for a couple of years, but I didn't like the philosophy. This preschool is awesome. The director teared up this morning when the first couple of kids arrived. She has worked so hard putting this together and I think the school will be around for a long time.

If I had my druthers, I would be a stay-at-home mom forever, but alas, money comes into play. How about you? Are you happy being at home?

3. Yeah, I'm happy. I have a great life and I give thanks everyday.

I'm very fortunate to not HAVE to work, my hubby makes a good income in the computer industry, so I'm lucky, I know.

I volunteer regularly with the kids' schools and also with our local hospice, as a volunteer visitor. I sit with people in their homes who are on the edge of life and provide practical support to their families. It's a great way to give back and also keep a higher perspective about what REALLY matters in life.

I'm also big into cycling and I've been training all summer for an organized century benefit ride this coming Sunday, benefitting the Santa Cruz AIDS Project. 100 miles in a day, baby!! :woohoo: Training takes a lot of time...

You are doing much needed volunteering! Bless you for being involved with hospice. Helping people at the end of their lives is quite an amazing thing to do. :hug:
