1. With test patterns
Back before the 24 hours of 150 channels of Infomercials....Yeah, I'd love to have free TV back. I wonder every night why I pay to have crap I never watch

2. That's all I got!
Last time I had cable was 1995!

I barely turn it on too. I think 9/11 was the longest period of time I've had it on a channel since 1997.

3. Free TV? But that's SOCIALISM!
Thank God that our Wise and Courageous Commander, President George Bush, has the moral perspicacity and far-sightedness to undertake to eliminate its scourge from our shores, our schools, and our amber waves of grain!

7. VHF and UHF
Sure, I remember free tv. 3 channels...ABC, NBC, CBS. And NET (the precusor to PBS)

We had a cool console tv that swiveled. A Motorola, I believe.

"Memories...of the Way We Were" :-)

8. NET - National Educational Television
Oh wow... yes, I recall that too. Our TV was on a rolling golden-aluminum TV stand that had a built-in magazine rack just below the TV shelf.

It took a few moments to warm-up... and when you turned it off, the picture would shrink into a little white dot in the center (just like the HBO Original Series logo/animation)
