Today in music history 9-27
Happy Birthday to Meat Loaf (59). Meat holds the world's record for milking one album for all it's worth, he's been Batting the shit out of Hell for 29 years. Mr. Loaf is currently recording "Bat out of Hell XI - My cable bill is due".

Oh, excuse me:

1986 - Metallica bass player Cliff Burton was crushed to death after the bands tour bus crashed between Stockholm and Copenhagen. Devastated, Metallica regroups and decides to carry on. Unfortunately, they carry on to suck.

2004 - "Wall of Sound" producer Phil Spector is indicted on charges of murder. He is alleged to have killed actress Lana Clarkson at his Los Angeles home in 2003. Phil arrives at the courthouse with what he calls his "Wall of Hair":

1973 - Rolling Stone reports that Carlos Santana, now a disciple of Sri Chinmoy, has a new name: Devadip, which means "The Lamp of the Light Supreme." The following year he changes his name once again to "The artist formally known as Devadip". Eventually, the guitarist changes once again to Johnny Cougar then Johnny Cougar Mellencamp, then John Cougar Mellencamp, then John Mellencamp, Madonna, Cher and finally to Carlos Santana.

1974 - Elvis performed at the University of Maryland Cole Fieldhouse, College Park, Maryland. The media as well as the fans were puzzled about Elvis performance throughout this tour. Tony Brown however witnessed Elvis getting out of his limousine, fall to his knees and even sleepwalk through the entire show.

To cover up the real reason why Elvis is acting this way, The Colonel releases this statement. "There has been a lot of rumors out there and Elvis and I want to clear things up. Elvis is not tired, sick or dizzy, he is simply just stoned out of his mind on pills. Please show the proper respect."

Happy 36th birthday to Mark Caldero of Color Me Badd. Ummm, so what? This guy is so not famous I couldn't find a picture of him. So he is one of the guys in the photo below:

1968 - The musical "Hair" opens in London. Onstage the actor indulge in drugs and have sex orgies. Today we call that Republicans at the Watergate Hotel:

3. I was waiting all morning for this
I was *SURE* there was going to be something about the Beatles and "A Day In The Life" in it. Because I've had the very end of that song (the VERY end...where it goes all weird and noisy) in my head all day. And then I was gonna be all :o :tinfoilhat: :scared:

But there isn't. Thus...meh.

:P

Nice 'do, Phil.

8. RIP Cliff
Great fucking bassist. And with his death, there was only one person left in the band who wasn't an obnoxious asshole.
