Do you have a "twin" out there?
:P I'm not talking about a genetic twin---I'm talking about someone who looks just like you, and people mistake you for that other person (or vice versa) frequently. When I lived in Chapel Hill, LOTS of people would come up to me and call me "Becky", and when I told them I wasn't Becky, they couldn't believe it. Apparently Becks and I looked exactly alike, although I never saw her in the eight years I lived there (and it's not that big a place). I always wondered if ol' Becks had the same thing happen to her... :P

It's happened off and on over the past few years too, and just recently it's been happening a lot. The opthamologist I go to has a nurse who swears her best friend and I could be twins. :) And a woman stopped me at Target thinking I was "Susie".

I'm flattered, but until I meet one or more of these "twins", I'm just gonna go about my business as usual...

3. I do...
We even have the same first name (Jeff)

Many times I've had strangers start talking to me as if they knew me, only to learn that they thought I was the 'other' Jeff. One guy wouldn't take my word that I was not who he thought I was. I literally had to show him my driver's license.

One time, me and the other Jeff walked into a room full of people who knew me. Shocked silence.

4. I have one!
She shops at the same grocery store I do. I've been mistaken for her many times. Once when I went in the cashier asked me why I wasn't at school. I asked why I should be at school. She said... well, aren't you a teacher? Shouldn't you be teaching today? When I told her she had me confused with someone else, she actually walked up to me and looked right in my face to be sure I wasn't who she thought I was. It just cracked me up.
Another time a cashier asked where my daughters were. I don't have children so I knew she had me confused with my 'twin' again.
I hope my 'twin' doesn't ever commit a crime. I might be blamed!! LOL

13. I have been told several times
that there is a PBS announcer on the air up in Buffalo who is my identical twin. We apparently look the same, dress in the same style, and even sound similar. He doesn't walk with a cane or crutches though.

I rarely watch TV, and I don't live in Buffalo anymore, so I have never seen him. But my friends in Buffalo assure me that it's freaky to watch him.

25. Yes, but...
I was stopped by people several times who thought I was another woman. All called me by the same first name; finally I asked someone for the last name -- then years later I met the owner of that name and found out she'd been mistaken for me, too. Neither of us could see the resemblance.

She died years after we met, then one night I was in line at a restaurant waiting for a table. The woman in front of us turned to speak to the man I was with -- an old pal of hers -- and when she saw me, her face went pale. She stopped mid-sentence. We were introduced at the point and I recognized the name as belonging to the dead woman's mother. I told her I knew what she was thinking; she had tears in her eyes and nodded. No explanations needed.

26. It appears that I do...and he's famous.
I started getting my hair cut a slightly different way a couple of months ago and I had two strangers in the span of a week come up and tell me I look just like some guy named Simon on American Idol. I rarely watch TV and I avoid "reality" programs like the plague so I had no idea who they were talking about.

One woman actually got mad at me because she couldn't accept the fact that I didn't know this guy.
