The guy sitting in the cubicle behind me has made a habit of whistling.
It probably wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't off-key. It's driving me insane. I put on my headphones, but if I have the volume low enough to hear my phone, I can hear the whistling, too. Any ideas on how I can ask him to stop? Every time I think about it, my vocabulary suddenly shrinks to nothing but foul words. :argh:

1. Just ask me to stop.
;)

Only kidding of course. It sounds like an Office Space moment. Maybe get your boss to move him down to storage room B. Other than directly talking to him about it at a moment where you are not frustrated I don't know what to do.

2. Hey....
"I'm not even sure if you realize that you're doing it, but when you whistle, I find it very difficult to concentrate." Something along those lines... good luck!

3. I had a rant about that on here once
They canned the guy a few weeks ago, but he was the worst whistler that ever puckered their lips. 90% of it was air and the other 10% was squeaky nothing. It would drive me insane.

4. He's a sugar addict.
You have to tell him to knock it off or it could spread into other parts of your psyche. Tell him you have a concentration disability and sounds make you unable to concentrate.

6. Take up juggling.
Everytime you hear the whistling start you can "accidentally" fling one of your bean bags over the cubicle wall. "Oh, sorry, did that hit you? I was just juggling for a few minutes to relax my hands and that noise distracted me for a second. So sorry."

7. Offer him some Saltines
If that fails, tell him that you plan to do something moist to his keyboard if he doesn't stop with the goddamned whistling already.

Just my $0.02.
