Laswell = genius. His dub stuff is incredible.

Jackson = a total monster. How many all-over-the-place jazz drummers can really hold it together like that? Pitifully few. The man IS a spine.

Brötzmann = a god, always in the process of becoming a different god. I've seen him live twice, in trios. A-fucking-may-fucking-zing.

Sharrock = a fully-realized deity, now that he's passed on. As brilliant a conceptualist as he was a player. Rest in chaos, you sick, beautiful skronk shredder. Many years ago when I was but a larval guitarist, he wrote a fabulous essay on improv that continues to inform me today.

Whoever put those four together should get a prize.
