Need Christmas Gift ideas FAST!!!!!
Without going into it it has been a timultuous week and a half. SO I find myself in a bit of a spot. Any ideas are appreciated.

I need ideas for:

My mother-just retired/likes gardening/books (not Oprah books)/household stuff

My stepfather-golfs and woodworks but has every single golf thing you could imagine and every tool ever made

The In-Laws-he hunts and fishes she dotes around the house.

Brother-loves the Dead and good historical books. I am thinking about getting him the Ben Franklin bio

Well that's pretty much it. I think I know what I am getting my wife (we agreed on a small Christmas for us).

14. Funny my Mom has a Target distribution warehouse 3 miles from her house
but no Target store within 50. She would love that store but the drive is prohibitive.

3. Sounds like you need a trip to the bookstore
Your mom probably has the standard gardening books. Maybe a niche book would be in order: something regional, organic gardening, herb gardening, etc.

You could pick up your brother's Franklin biography on the same trip.

Coffee table book for the mother-in-law.

Coffee table book of "Masterpieces of Woodworking" for the father-in-law (maybe that's stretching it, who knows).

Then there are gift certificates.

And magazine subscriptions (buy the first one and tell 'em the rest are on the way).

13. Um
The irony of that suggestion (it usually is at ours too)feeds off the troubles I have been trying to manage via my cell phone. Long story.

Thanks but no Alcohol gifts this year.

16. Okay
Just go to your friendly neighborhood ABC store and tell them you understand that "underpants" is picking up the tab for you there. Just tell them to put it on my account.

'kay?

18. if you get stuck...

make a donation in their name to a charity they'd support.

ie. donate toys, but take a picture of them first so you can include it in the card... if they're animal lovers, donate to a shelter. you get the idea...

this has been a big hit with some of my relatives. I've donated teddy bears several seasons to the "Teddy Cares" project in NYC which delivers stuffed animals to hospital-bound children every year.

19. For your mother, perhaps a garden journal
for her to map out her garden during the winter. The journal also helps to track the progress of the garden while it grows (best growing conditions, etc.) Some garden journals have pouches for photographs, to chronicle the growing cycles through out the seasons. I loved receiving a journal one year.

I agree with the idea for gift certificates, though.
