Inconsiderate people suck. I just thought I'd point that out.
I had a customer call me on Monday, frantic. She was going to a wedding on Wednesday and had promised to bring wine. Another store was supposed to get it for her but they'd told her that morning that they couldn't get it until Thursday (probably forgot to order it).
I calmed her down, told her I could order it that day and it would come in early Wed morning. I would then make it a priority to dig it out from my load so it would be ready when she and her husband swung by to pick it up on their way out of town. She gave me her home and work numbers, also both her and her husband's cell numbers and thanked me a billion times.
Yesterday morning, my load arrives. Now I'd ordered a big load and corporate had seen fit to tack on an additional pallet and a half worth of product so I had 7 pallets of wine and liquor. As promised, first thing, I spent nearly 3/4 of an hour going through the whole thing and pulling out her four cases of wine - they were packed in plastic tubs so I couldn't see them without opening every single one. :nuke:
After wasting a considerable amount of time doing this, the customer never showed up. When I finally got in touch with her (after calling all her numbers all morning and leaving messages informing her I had the wine ready for pick-up), she told me they were already on the way and couldn't turn around - "we didn't get your message until we were already gone."
Now this nitwit had managed to call me so she could ask me to order the wine but apparently, it was too difficult to call and ask if it had arrived. I'd spent all morning trying to call her but no one was answering the phone, any of the phones, leading me to believe that I was being ignored in the hopes I'd just go away (no doubt because they found the wine somewhere else).
Now, I don't really care if they did but it would have been nice if they'd simply given me a call and let me know they didn't want it. Then I wouldn't have spent so much time on their frigging order (which caused me to get close to an hour of overtime which I didn't particularly want). Instead, like children, they decided to act like they'd never ordered it.
Now I'm stuck with 4 cases of wine that I'll have until doomsday because it's not one of my better sellers. I'm always happy to order product for customers but it would be nice if people actually were sure they wanted it before they ordered because I don't have room to store their indecisions. I wish I could charge a non-refundable deposit but the company won't let me. Pisses me off because it makes me leery of doing the same for others.
~sigh~ thanks for letting me vent
