Ever have a whole conversation by yourself?

I was just talking away, about Hawaii, and my husband walked to the other side of the house without me realizing it. That was embarrasing...well, actually, more pathetic than anything.

Does that ever happen to you?

Just the other day, I had this conversation on AIM with his wife:

SW: Steve was asking about you.
Me: Did Steve ask you or was Steve asking himself?
SW: It was really weird, but he actually asked me.
Me: Wow.

It's one of his charms, along with the fact that he looks like he stepped out of "Resevoir Dogs." I keep trying to get the both of them on DU, but no such luck. Basically, when I'm at their house we sit around drinking tea and ranting about the evils of the Bush administration.

Now that he's gone, I still yell "Good Morning" to the hawks and herons -or I shout "How's the missus?" at them. I talk to the wild turkeys that come into the yard. But the only time I take both parts is when I talk to myself. Go figure.

And same thing- my SO will walk away during a pause, and I start going off about something after a moment, get no reply, and discover that he's in the bedroom or something.

My husband and I have a very strong relationship. I don't know, maybe that's why I didn't take offense to the remark...because I know it is absurd.

And I don't have to be talking to another person initially - I carry on conversations, out loud, with myself all the time. I've even argued out loud with myself and irritated myself so bad that I've been at the point of never speaking to myself again.

But we always make up. :)

I can argue both sides of a position until I'm reasonably certain how I feel about it. But if the buzz wears off a bit I suddenly realize I'm talking to myself, and suddenly my debating partner isn't there anymore. And that's always disappointing.

In my household, it can take up to 5 minutes to
get an audible response from either of the male
humans that live here. Oh yes, they are famous
for walking away while I'm talking to them.
