Poll question: Do you consider yourself a sensuous person?
Do you revel in sights, smells, touches, tastes, and/or sounds? :) Or do they bore you or just get in the way sometimes? Or are you one of those people who don't care one way or the other?

I'm definitely sensuous. I love petting my dogs because their fur is so soft and they radiate heat when they play. I love eating good food. I love the way the air smells after a summer rain. I love the sight of a gorgeous sunset. And I love the sound of good music. My senses speak to my soul, and that's what makes me feel good.

What about you? (And remember, let's not get this thread locked! :hi: )

22. My dear billy.........
It's true that sensuous people get depressed......

We feel things so much more deeply than most, I think.......

I've been there, sweetie.......

But I try to concentrate on all the good that has come to me from my own sensuality....

For me, the good far outweighs the bad, the painful.......

One thing I love that many think is weird: running in the rain, in the woods. Even if it's cold out. But, especially if it's warm(ish), and I only have on shorts and a singlet. LOVE IT.

He is, as well. When we get together, we have a feast for the senses. We'll go out to dinner, try new foods and drink, share them with each other. Then we'll go back to his house and share of ourselves. We use all our senses, and revel in it. I'm so glad I met him earlier this year.

45. Most definitely.
I can become quite emotional if I allow my senses to be overwhelmed by whatever I am enjoying. I frequently tear up, just listening to beautiful music, or if I visit the Metropolitan Museum and gaze at the great paintings there.

I was stunned for weeks after seeing Van Gogh's paintings for the first time, and learning about his life.

And women? Well, I don't want to get this thread locked but I can assure you that every sense of mine is fully engaged!!:* :hi:

even scratching a good itch brings paroxysms of delight.

and food? -- don't get me started -- i could have it off thinking about truffles or a smoked salmon -- and then there is chocolate -- ahhhhooommmm.

love dogs -- love to look at dogs and play fetch with them.

i think that's why i love to watch track and field events.

and last but not least -- sex -- is there anything better in life?

Smells mean whole worlds to me and I have so many memories that come rushing back with the hint of a scent.

Touch can be amazing. I walk though a grove a Redwoods to my mailbox and I have a tendency to reach out and just delicately brush my fingers against the bark - amazing, beautiful trees and so stately and alive.

As for taste - one of my most vivid memories is of the first meal I ate after my mother's death. I'd become sick with a terrible throat infection the day after she died and was laid up in bed for a week or more - nothing but clear liquids and delerious with fever. When I finally managed to get out of bed and totter weakly out to the kitchen, my sister made me two fried eggs and toast.

I can still taste them.

74. I'm definitely a sensuous person...
Particularly when it comes to some things (and no...not necessarily what you're thinking, sheeeeesh). I love the way paper feels and smells and sounds. Buying a new book is an Experience. I'll buy it, bring it home and put it where I can see it through the day. Where I can touch the jacket and the spine and the edges of the pages; I won't open it, though. Not until after everyone's gone to bed and I'm by myself and it's quiet. Then I'll take it upstairs with me and sit with it, just enjoying the weight of it, the smooth, cool feel of the jacket, the slightly rougher texture of the pages inside, the way the spine crackles just the tiniest bit the first time I open it. The way it smells and the way the light hits the page...

There's nothing like it. Reading it's almost anti climatic.

Almost.

I'm kind of the same way when it comes to notebooks, stationary and pens.

Weird? Maybe...but I like it.

77. I'm on overload
I think I might have been sensuous in an earlier era, but now my eyes and especially my ears are overwhelmed.

I am sort of lucky in being relatively insensitive to smells and hate hearing them talked about, especially hate reading about them. I read some novels by Nora Roberts but finally quit in disgust because she is always going on about a person's "scent." Somehow that reduces people to animals, sort of!
