Got my car back. Now I have a transmission question
Before the transmission was rebuilt, at 70 miles an hour, the engine ran at 3000 rpm. Always. Now at 70mph, it's 2500 rpm. Since the speed sensor is tied to the transmission, is my speedometer now wrong? Was it wrong before?

I don't want to get a ticket and I'm curious why there's a difference.

So far the car runs okay. The transmission is tight and the car overall is loose. It *is* 12 years old and has 160k on it.

1. If the engine was tuned then your rpm will go down.
also the link to your speed is tied to your wheels on some models not the transmission.

2. I called and specifically asked where the sensor was
I was told it was the transmission on this Honda.

4. After my tune-up on my Subaru
My rpms went down driving 70mph from 3100 to 2700. Are you passing everyone on the road at 3000 rpms?

5. To get to 3000rpm

I'm doing close to 80. But at 2500, I'm keep up with traffic. When Lelapin can go with me, I'll take a stopwatch and check it at 60mph against the mile markers. I don't know any other way to check it.

3. I don't know about yours, I just know after we had our tranny done
my speedometer is now 5 mph off. Luckily it shows I'm going 70 when I'm going 65..so I don't speed as often now.

We don't have the rpm thingy..we happened to find out when I was following DH home from Michigan one day and we were yacking back and forth on the talkies.
