Radio Listeners! "Radio Lab" - ever listen?
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 01:41 AM by gkdmaths
On friday evenings I listen to my favorite NPR show, This American Life. Totally love it.

But tonight, the Seattle NPR station I listen to had something different on, Radio Lab. It was _completely_friggin_amazing_

Tonights show was about "stress" and the emotional source, psychological implicaitons, evolutionary necessity and the contemporary physiological consequences to stress as both a product of and means to survive an historic evolutionary arms race.

Im so in love with great radio like this. It was so cerebral and plotted.

Any other listeners out there? Are all the shows this good?

broadcasting, but this sounds unique. I'll have to give it a listen.

I used to love WNYC when I lived in New York City -- that was eons ago -- well, the 1960s.

I don't know if Oregon Public Broadcasting (where I volunteer) runs this show. I'm going to try and look it up now.

In peace,

PS. On edit: Can't find outlets for this programming. Will have to listen on their site.

Neat idea -- sometimes radio can do what television can't -- you have pictures in your mind that can be much more inventive than pictures on a screen.

I am 67 years old; radio was my companion at home because I was an only child and my parents went to work every day. I was born in 1939; we didn't get a television set until 1953, as I recall. I'm a baby of the radio age.

Thanks for your post.

2. Oh! OPB!
I Moved to Olywa from Longview five years ago. I used to listen to OPB every single day in Longview, all day and I miss it soooo much!

There used to be a guy who had a music spot during the weekdays (and I think the weekends) from, I think, about 10 to midnight until McNeil Lerher came on. He would play the most amazing music all evening and it lullabyed me to sleep every_single day.

I really wish KUOW would pick up programming like that - all we get is BBC and jazz or music from the 40s. I dont mind our programming, but I miss the OPB stuff.

Right now, I'm happy - radio theater!!!!!!!

nice to meet you. :hi:

4. Gkdmaths, thanks for your responses.
We're leaving for Florida on Friday, Oct. 6th for a vacation with family and my 50th High School Reunion, taking place in Orlando.

I won't have much time this week, and I'm not recording a show until late October.

But I'll put this link on my dayplanner and try to listen when I get back.

Nice to meet you, too -- on the DU!

In peace,

Radio_Lady Ellen in Oregon

PS. You can read more about my program and even listen to it on the Internet. Go to my journal, and check out the right hand column.
