Tonight-Seafood at Castaways in Round Rock, Tx. Their calamari appetizer kicks ass

Tomorrow night- Butt ham and tamales with Wolf chili and cheese on them.

Christmas Day-oven roasted 24 lb turkey, deviled eggs w/ jalapenos, smashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, black eyed peas w/ jalapenos, gravy from the turkey juice, Pillsbury bread sticks, whole berry cranberry, Mrs. Smith cherry pie w/ Reddi Whip(ideas for Mrs bearfan) and ice cream.

Mrs bearfan hasn't cooked in 9 years. I do the dishes too MOST of the time.

Tonight - lamb/spinach curry left over from last night (really better the next day) with Basmati rice and Indian Chai

Tomorrow - probably lot's of snacks and sweets

Xmas - at my mothers - the lamb is just a coincidence) Roasted leg of lamb, browned rice, peas/mushrooms and a salad

Mincemeat pie for dessert.

5. Christmas Eve is just the three of us this year

myself, hubby and youngest daughter. We do finger food: summer sausage, cheeses, crackers, shrimp/cocktail sauce, chips/salsa, veggies/dip, little weenies, hot chocolate, ginger ale, egg nog for my hubby.

Christmas day we are 'potlucking' at my sis-in-laws: turkey, spuds, stuffing, corn, green bean casserole, rolls, relish tray, kolackys, various cookies/almond bark pretzels etc., cheesecake and coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks, etc.

Boxing day the grandkids are coming for the weekend (YAY! I missed them this last weekend, we didn't see them) so that will be more casual: pizza, popcorn, fruit and cheese, that kind of thing. Movies, sliding, snowperson-making...I can't wait!

6. stuffed shells with sauce for X-mas eve at the big family do

I flirted with the idea of goose or Cornish hen for X-mas day ( really wanted to cook something different), but was voted down. I am sick of turkey and don't really like ham. I saw a leg of lamb on the store yesterday... but it just didn't seem right.

As for activities... all our snow melted :(

I used to love Sweet Potato Pecan Pie when I lived in TX. Can't find it up here.

But your feast sounds yummy.

Us.....we're gonna BBQ on Christmas. Steaks, baked potatoes, etc. Christmas Eve we traditionally have homemade Italian Beef sandwiches.

I'm getting bored with cooking a huge feast that takes 6 hours to prepare, only to see it devoured in about 20 minutes.

That why I'm gonna BBQ this year instead.

Tonight, dinner at a friend's house, so who knows, really...

Tomorrow night, barbecued steaks with green salad and potatoes at Mom & Dad's.

Christmas dinner for us includes:

turkey
stuffing (white bread, celery, garlic, and onion)
peas and maybe another hot veg
mashed potatoes
mashed turnip
candied "yams" (actually sweet potatoes)
green salad
jellied salad of some sort
rolls
gravy
cranberry sauce
vegetable juice

plus my mom's "antipasto" dip, crackers and cheese and meat, pickles, my tappanade and maybe roasted vegetable dip, probably a shrimp ring, and all sorts of other good stuff to tide one over... Mmm...

Then it's off to Long Island for me and all sorts of probably kosher goodies with my fiance's family on Boxing Day, assuming of course that I get through Customs and don't wind up back at home. Sigh... Thanks, John Asscrack!

12. for Christmas eve.....

....it's always been a huge billowing cheese souffle and a salad of greens with a good vinaigrette. It's just the preparation for Christmas day's overstuffing. Dessert: ice cream snowballs (peppermint ice cream scooped round, then rolled in flaked coconut and put back in the freezer. To serve, stick a birthday candle in each one and light)

Traditional Christmas breakfast: fresh, frozen or canned raspberries in my grandmother's pink depression glass bowls, poached eggs with tarragon cream (a bearnaise with mushrooms and sour cream added), sausages, homemade apple strudel. (We'll only be two this year, so we'll just have the eggs and english muffins)

When our household was big I always put lots of interesting things in everyone's stockings that could be used to make a big relish tray before dinner. Pickled watermelon, smoked oysters, imported cheeses, etc.

Oh, and I always prepared some kind of entertainment for after Christmas dinner -- for that lull between dinner and bedtime for kids. One year I bought old-fashioned rhythm band instruments for everyone (Great grandma on down) and put on Christmas music and everyone had a jolly time playing along with the old-time triangles, sand blocks, etc. Another year I bought funny little metal windup birds and wrapped them for after-dinner presents at the table. An impromptu game ensued with these little pecking birds and a ping-pong ball on the cleared wood table. And Christmas crackers make a little fun, too.

If you have a multi-generational crowd, think holiday jigsaw puzzle. That kept my in-laws busy and contented.

Actually, roast leg of lamb is a terrific entree for Christmas dinner. That's what we're having.

14. If my friends and I go to the same Chinese restaurant

we went to last Christmas then I will have noodles chow fun....yum yum....I think they were curry noodles chow fun!!!!
