Today I delivered information packets on Democratic candidates in my area! I was able to beat back the anxiety for the cause. I gave about 3 and 1/2 hours this morning. I only skipped one house because there was a big rotweiller mix who started to growl as I headed up the driveway. He was tied and may have been friendly but I wasn't going to risk it. I love dogs and hated to skip the house, but there was no way around him, and he acted like he definitely didn't want me around, so I didn't tempt fate.
I didn't run into a lot of people. We were just told to leave the packets in between the screen and front doors.
One lady I did see was funny, they were pulling in their driveway and the minute I said I was volunteering for the Dems, she said, "hand that over. We never vote Repulican in this house, only Democrats."
I am hoping to volunteer for at least one or two more events before election time, if I can get a ride. I haven't been able to beat the driving anxiety yet, but my Mom was nice enough to drive me today.
I'd like the chance to meet more Dems in my area!
Another funny thing is when I went to pick up my packet, my ninth grade, Social Studies teacher was there. A guy who came just after her, said jokingly "oh no not one of those teacher types, and she said but look at the nice smart people, I helped to teach" and pointed to me. I replied, "she was one of my best teachers ever," and then she replied back, "I paid her to say that." ;)
Serioulsy she was a great teacher and it is wonderful to know she is a Dem!
