it was covered by her health care plan after a shrink ok'd it. She does it for 20 minutes every morning and seems to be having good results.

But today is the darkest day of the year, or at least the shortest. Things tend to get better from here.

4. Couldn't live without mine

In addition to the light box, which is used for light therapy (generally 10,000 lumens for 15-20 min) I use full-spectrum lighting whereever I can around the house -- makes things much more cheery! It's quite the dramatic difference, you should try them out.

5. I use a light box-- important that you do it early in the morning...

Fortunately Colorado has lots of sunny winter days, so I supplement by getting outside as often as possible at noon.

While my plants love full spectrum bulbs, I really don't like anything florescent. I'll use them in lamps, since they run cooler, but overhead and track lighting, I have to have incandescent. I REALLY like the GE REVEAL bulbs. While not officially full spectrum, they approach it and are very pleasant.

(Please, no General Electric harangues, fellow Duers... So, I like their light bulbs!....)

10. I think you are referring to a tanning sunlamp....

For SAD treatment: these are just full spectrum light boxes. They don't tan or give off heat.
