Question About Kitty
Why is my cat going out of her way to reach down and lap water out of the toilet when she has a perfectly clean bowl of water next to her fancy feast?

1. Kitties like drinking water out of
weird places.

My two have a kitty drinking fountain,
pumped, filtered water that is as good
as Britta or PUR.

But nooo--
they also have to drink out of the faucet,
the sprinklers, the drip pan under the BBQ,
and yes, the toilet.

Kitties- lovable nuisances you can't live without.

;-)

2. Yeah, our cats do that, too.
We just make sure the toilet lids are closed. They also enjoy drinking out of the pool, random beverages around the house (even coffee) and puddles in the driveway.

So, basically...the answer is cats are weird. Close the toilet lid.

3. Close the lid. Check.
I can't understand it... she'll do this for a couple days. Stop for a month or two... and then do it again.

9. THANK YOU!!!! I wasn't sure. Sophie is so wierd.
She will just hop into the tub and wait patiently for hubby or myself to turn the water on JUST A LITTLE. If the water stream is too big, she gets mad and leaves.

7. Kitty cats are funny that way...they love moving water,
...and instinctively know it's better for them (and it is).

My cats love their drinking fountain I bought for them. You might buy one for your cat...sounds like they are a candidate! Here's a photo I got off the web (there sell them at PetSmart, etc.):
