How far is Charleston WV from Washington Dulles

By Car? In miles and time?

How much would it cost to fly from Dulles to Charleston?


I'm a West Coast guy so excuse my ignorance. Don't ask why I don't just fly into WV. It's not relevant.

1. I flew from L.A. to WVA last week

and flew into Pittsburgh and then drove in.

Driving Time and miles? Basically I'm trying to find the cheapest way to WV. I Know I can get to Dulles cheap. But I'm open to suggestions. I can fly out of OAK or SFO

WV is a hell of a drive from Dulles.

Go S on I-79. Welcome to the Mountain state!!!

edit: Oh yeah, drining from Pitts to Chas is about a 3.5 - 4 hour drive.

5. Ha, Ha Ha,

Dulles to Charleston, that is a Good one. You have two BAD choices, first is the West Virginia Turnpike via southern West Virginia, the other is I-70 to I-68 to I-79 in Morgantown, than down I-79 from Morgantown to Charleston.

I Strongly do NOT recommend going over the West Virginia Mountains, those roads are NOT design for long term high speed driving. Stay with the Interstates. The West Virginia Turnpike is not bad, but I would recommend I-70, I-68 and than I-79 over going south to the West Virginia Turnpike.

Have you thought of Pittsburgh to Chareston instead? Than take I-79 straight to Chareston.

Or Even Cleveland? Pa turnpike to I-79 and than to Charleston?

I hate to tell you this but flying into Charleston would be a LOT easier than any other way.

227 miles from Pittsburgh to Charleston, all interstate driving.

361 from Washington to Charleston, Dullas is about 30 mile north of DC, so it would be about 330 miles, Pittsburgh is still closer.

From Clevelend, and you take I-77 stright south from Cleveland and the distance is only 251 miles.

7. Another option

for you to consider is to fly into Columbus, OH and drive to Charleston.

Pittsburgh, Cleveland or Columbus are way better options than Dulles.

Just no good direct ways to get from Dulles to Charleston... I-68 across the mountains can turn into a nightmare if the weather is bad.
