I have found the most evil conservative quote of all time...Now guess who.
"I was smart enough to use pot without getting caught, and now I'm on the Supreme Court. If you were stupid enough to get caught, that's your problem. Your appeal is denied. This 40 year sentence just might teach you a lesson."

Edited on Wed Dec-24-03 11:37 AM by skypilot
...along with Thomas's name and I came up with a couple sites that mention this quote but somehow it still almost comes off like an urban legend. It's just THAT evil and disgusting. Just how sure are we that he actually said this?

16. The Context Doesn't Seem Right
Somehow, I can't see the situation where a Supreme Court justice would be saying "your appeal is denied."

17. I also can't see the situation where...
Edited on Wed Dec-24-03 01:05 PM by skypilot
...a Supreme Court justice would sit on the bench and say that he used pot.

On edit: Also, maybe I'm being paranoid but the person who started this thread also posted about this in General Discussion one minute later. The heading says "DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THIS GUY". Could this be a disruptor trying to dupe DUers by spreading lies that he thinks we'd believe?

22. I don't know...
I think that Thomas is probably the stupidest person to ever sit on the SC.

I decided he was an idiot during the hearings when he said he didn't listen to any on Hill's charges, because he didn't think they might be true. Any judge that would not listen to any charges brought before them, (whether against them or any other defendant), is in the wrong profession.

:grr:

18. Have a hard time believing this is true
As just plain evil as some of them are, I don't believe any justice would make a statement like that. I wish I could.

21. That is NOT a real quote. I have proof.
It's from this site.

http://www.soveriegn.freeservers.com/drugs.htm

This same site has other gems such as these.

Al Gore, U.S. vice-president "My work on the environment is so important that I can't take the time off to go to jail for something so trivial as marijuana. But its okay with me if you go."

Newt Ginrich, Speaker of the Senate (sic) "See, when I smoked pot it was illegal, but not immoral. Now, it is illegal AND immoral. The law didn't change, only the morality. That's why you get to go to jail and I don't. Any questions?"

William Clinton, U.S. president "Well, I did smoke pot, but I didn't inhale. And I was in England, so it really doesn't count. Plus, no-one saw me. So what's the big fuss? The half million people arrested for pot last year are just sore losers."

Clearly, these are not real quotes.
