i want to cultivate the bike messenger look
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 12:29 PM by MrCoffee
how is it that you immediately recognize a bike messenger when you see one?

i think it's the casual insouciance, the damn-the-internal-combustion-engine mentality, the smarmy disdain for everyone in the galaxy that attracts me.

as a social class, bike messengers are fascinating.

1. I think I ventured into that class for an afternoon
I toured Vail Colorado on a mountain bike that afternoon. Vail doesnt allow cars on a large section of their town, but bikes are all over.

It was lots of fun.

4. bleh
to be more specific, the phrase 'snot rocket' leapt into my head upon reading that. Those poor brain cells that harbor that memory...what potential they had...

5. get a custom made Reload messenger bag
and drag it through a greasy alley. Don't wash it off just let it dry and congeal. Wear the same pair of dickies pants for a few weeks with the right leg rolled up. Don't wash your hair.

14. Smarmy guys don't teach
That's lesson one.

However, we'll occasionally share our wisdom.

Spend a day sucking exhaust fumes from SUVs with those Support the Troops magnets, that helps cultivate the disdain.

Drink a lot the day before your smarmy portrait is taken, preferably with an ex girl friend.

Properly program your mental jukebox. I think I was humming Quadrophenia when this pic was taken.

I'd share more but once again I've got to go be the smartest person in the room

Sigh

15. Drop to about 120 pounds ....
wear long spandex shorts under cruddy shorts, get dark framed eyeglasses, and accessorize so you look like you're gonna go to your favorite alt-band's show right after to drop off the last item.
