8. I would never admit to being here
and if accused, I will deny it. Last minute shopping online and wrapping, and resting up for the big day tomorrow.

Pray for us now, and in the hour of our death. I don't know why that came out - it is the only semi-christian thing I know.

77. Ooooh, your brothers are the index cases for the flu outbreak in
the islands? And you're admitting this in a place where there's known to be an epidemiologist hanging around?
(just kidding; keep drinking those fluids and resting. Don't push yourself physically & get better).

22. As are others, I'm in and out.
Mr. Nownow and I still have cookies to bake and presents to wrap, but night owls that we are, we'll probably be up until three. He's doing the first batch of cookies -- I'm supposed to be figuring out what the second batch will be. You ... ahem ... see how hard I'm working on that. I already did five loads of laundry, baked bread and cooked dinner this evening -- I'm just gonna sit here an 'pine for the fjords' for a while and let him bang around the kitchen.

Ho, ho, ho!

I'm going to open up my daughter's Xmas video "Pirates of the Carribean", watch it, drink more wine, and wait for my husband to come home from church. EVERYONE in the PA Bible Belt (where I live) is at church 'cept me, 'cause I'm a way lapsed heathen ex-Presbyterian.

So, I'll just hang out by myself here tonight, and then me and two family-less friends will be having orphans' Christmas tomorrow, like we do just about every holiday.

At least it's a loit less stressful than all the holiday family horror stories I hear about! I just get tohang out with my best buds all day, and don't even have to feel guilty about it!

Anyway, I needed a break from "Cornish Hens" stuffed with wild rice I've had for too long....Family is not here this year, so on our own. We opted for the "beef" before the news. :-(

But, I'm here popping in and out posting because I don't have any family here this year, and watching movies and baking so I keep coming here to see what's up.

63. Count me in..
Since we are BROKE there wouldn't have been much of a christmas anyway. Besides, I've decided that, unless there are wee tots around, I don't need to do this holiday; it only feeds the corporations lust for mo money.
We did go out and "see, then buy", no wrapping, no tree, some lights and will do a meal tomorrow. We agreed we didn't need the "stress" nor the debt AND we can hit the sales afterward if we want to. Just a few more hours and it will all be over..Yeah!
Would have been nice to get drunk though...oh well, maybe next time.

Happy Winter solstice anyway

72. I'm around
We don't usually do Xmas Eve celebrations - tomorrow's our big running-around day. So tonight I take it easy with DU.

81. Me, too
I'm terminally single, family in Utah, son went with his dad (also in Utah) because he only ever gets summers and the odd break so I figure what the heck. It's super-important to my ex and his relatives, so I let them have it. Christmas is nice, but I shun the mandatory, stressed-out, commercial part of it. The office party alone requires a huge expenditure of emotional energy. I took my son shopping for a couple things before he left, bought one present online, sent one card, and bought a few little things to put in a gift bag for the daughter of a friend who invited me to dinner tomorrow. I'm making roasted potatoes to take to that, and that's about the sum total of my Christmas effort. Otherwise I'm just relaxing and doing whatever I want.

Warm wishes to everyone - especially those who would rather be doing something else at the moment.

88. Everybody counts on DU!
That's the advantage of a progressive forum. We all are equally valued here, except for the admins, but they run the place, so they, appropriately, call the shots. Welcome to DU, EV1Ltimm, if nobody's ever welcomed you before!:hi:

85. I am, but just to say...
Merry Christmas, DU. Peace on Earth and Goodwill in 2004. Keep fighting the good fight. Cheers and goodnight.

I won't be around for the next three days, as I'm lobbying to get a copy of the highly addictive "Simpsons: Hit and Run" game in my stocking...

If I'm back tomorrow, it's because I only got a lump of coal.....

87. I've been here off and on the past couple of hours.
But as soon as I grab my cake out of the oven, I'm going to bed. I'm sleepy.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
