3. Yow
And it seems the same ones that can't say the "g" in strength are the sames ones that will clearly pronounce the "g" at the end of string, kind of like streen-guh. ;)

12. here's something i never have understood about the english language:
when we say "I have to go to the store."

have is possesive. it sounds kind of silly to say "I have " to do this, or that. We should be saying "I need to go to the store" or "I must go to the store."

that must confuse the shit out of people when learning english as 2nd language.

23. Actually, we say "hafta"...
The have in "I have to go to the store" is not pronounced at all like the have in "I have two sweaters."

22. I haven't lived where I grew up for awhile now,
so when I hear the local dialect, it sounds kinda funny to me. My mom used to tell me to "go red up my room". Whatever the hell that means!

17. Language change happens. It won't stop.
Since the days of Old English and before people have complained of the language going to the dogs, but change still happens...and it can take a language from being a minor language on Europe's fringe with a vestigial system of inflection signposting case and grammatical gender to a worldwide language without such complexities, but with many more of it's own.

It happens.
