Advice sought (not a major problem)
Every year, we have after-dinner toasts at our Christmas dinner, and this year Gran has asked me to make one; it will be my very first, and I don't want to blow it. I've worked and worked on it all week, and Tony assures me it's fine, but I'd like some input from unbiased folks. Here it is:

"God, in his wisdom, has provided man with two families--- one heavenly and the other earthly. In this latter respect I am truly blessed. There are none here today whom I cannot call by their first name, and none with whom I have not broken bread in your home, or you in mine.

Were I ill, or in need, I know in my heart that I could call upon anyone here today and not be turned away empty-handed. Closest to my heart, though, is the dear lady in whose house we are today; she is the bedrock upon which the pillars of this clan rests. She is strong, she is wise, she is warm; in short, she is the very definition of the word 'love'.

May God bless and keep you, Gran, now and always.

Slainte!"

What do you think? Is it OK? Too maudlin?

12. thats neat
I feel kind of strange having an older grandmother than many people older than me. Well thats what happens I guess when youre the son of the youngest and that youngest slept around a lot before he settled down. My nana as we call her doesn't remember anything, I feel bad for her because shes been widowed for nearly a quarter of a century now. Well I guess god will have his way with her soon, I know she wants to go to heaven to be with the man she loved.

7. Whew! Thanks!
I suppose I'm a bit nervous; odd, that, since I've never had 'stage fright' before. :)
