Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone!

To those of you who celebrate Christmas, I'd like to wish you a very merry Christmas on this day. And even if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope that you are having a happy holiday season.

In case you're curious, I'm having a very pleasant holiday. My wife and I are visiting my parents, along with my two sisters, their husbands, and a two-year-old nephew. My brother was here earlier in the week with his wife and two daughters. I spent this morning watching everyone else open presents; I didn't get any today because my wife an I exchanged gifts last week. The rest of the day is gonna be pretty lazy -- I'll watch the nephew play with toys, I'll read the book my wife gave me, maybe we'll all go for a walk around the neighborhood with our dogs, and then we'll cook Christmas dinner.

On a special day like today, I am reminded of the things that are important in life, and I am grateful for the blessings which I enjoy. I am especially grateful for all of the wonderful people on this website. Without your kindness and generosity there would be no Democratic Underground, and I would be forced to waste away my days on some less-interesting line of work. I often worry that I don't let all of you know how much I appreciate everything you have done for DU, and for me personally. By visiting this site, by reading and participating in discussions, and by helping spread a feeling of community, you have made this the greatest website on the Internet. Thank you.

I can't wait for 2004. It is going to be a great year.

One of the things I am most grateful for, during this holiday season, is that I found Democratic Underground. I live in Freeper country, with a Freeper mother and brother, and I am so very grateful, everyday, to have found such kindred spirits. I have my favorite candidates, as does everyone here, and we have our squabbles, but I believe that the one thing that keeps us united is the need to evict the squatter-in-chief from the White House. Thank you so much for this forum, a place where we all get to air our grievances against the horrors that are taking place in our country and in the world. I don't know how many of us would survive without it. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and thanks for the very best forum on the web.
