Do you wash your towels every time you take a shower?
I live in a dry area, and they air dry quickly. I re-use the same towel many times.

Is that abby normal?

1. no
I figure I'm clean when I get out of the shower so . . . . but even so, fresh towels are cool. I use a towel about three times.

4. I use a fresh one every day at home
But when I was away at college I'd use the same towel for a week. Saved me some money at the coin-op laundry. I'd just throw it in with my whites and use it again. I only used one towel the whole time I was away, even though I had eight of them.

5. What would be the purpose?
If you keep your own towel, i.e., don't share it with others after its uses, then there is no reason to launder it after one or even three uses. You did hit on one good issue, and that is how fast it dries. A towel that doesn't dry is likely over the days to mildew, so maybe a few days is more appropriate. But even here in Seattle personal towels are fine for a good five days, if you hang them up such that they dry maximally.

Don't waste heat and water laundering clean towels!!

7. I Don't Share My Towels With Anybody
Why bother washing them until I notice a difference in color form white to grey?

12. But Always Have An Option

With the occassional, unexpected guest.

Sometimes you can't call ahead and expect your cat to empty out the litter-box or do laundry with the well-shaped guest expected "that evening...."

"Stuff" takes both pre-planning too....

9. I use it about three times.
But if someone has thrush (a yeast infection) or a fungal infection on another part of the body, as a nurse I advise them to launder it every day so they do not accidentally re-infect themselves as they are finishing treatment for the yeast. Yeast is a real persistent bugger to get rid of.

13. I always use clean towels and washcloths.
However, if we start having a drought and water shortages, that may change. We do water our property with the gray water, so it doesn't go to waste in a sewer system.

my washcloths often smell moldy if they've been hanging around for a day.

Hell, I do a load of laundry every day or two. Why not wash a towel?

21. When you dry yourself, you are sloughing off flakes of skin....
I use my towels twice, at the most 3 times. Even though you just got out of the shower, you still shed flakes of skin and a terry towel can collect a lot of them.

Also, i dont like fabric softener on towels. Fabric softener seems to me to make the towels LESS absorbant.
