Does this headline seems unclear to you?
From CNN: "Enslaving Egyptian girl, 10, gets prison sentence".

I read that as an Egyptian girl, ten years old, whose been running around enslaving people has received a prison sentence. Either that or 10 people are getting a prison sentence for enslaving an egyptian girl.

Neither are accurate.

1. indeed...not as misleading as "Crowd Rushing to See Pope Trample Six
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 03:44 PM by anarch
to Death" though. That's still my all-time favorite newspaper headline. Like, dude, I'd probably rush to see that myself!

3. That is good.
That would be impressive to see.
He'd have to clean his robes thoroughly afterwords.

2. I freaking hate headlines like this
and writers write them...people who write for a living write these headlines. It kills me. All they woulda had to do is take 'gets prison sentence', put it at the front of the sentence and put "man" or "woman" or whatever in front of it. If it was a space concern, they could have taken out her age or nationality and even put a 'for' in there. It seems to be getting worse, this headline thing. If you look at really old newspapers they didn't do this at all, the headlines were usually very literate.

or:
"Police begin campaign to run down jaywalkers"

just from a quick search that turned up this page: http://funnies.paco.to/Headlines.html
