How big should my wiener be? (get your minds out of the gutter...)

Like a typical parent I face interesting and new situations each day.

Today, it was Oscar Meyer wieners.

My daughter had a bowl of green bean casserole. She is not fond of pork chops (which I also made) and so I waited until she was done with the GBC. She said she was still hungry so I broke out that old standby, the bun length wiener.

Here was my thought. She is 5. I am 41. She is about 38 inches tall, I am 68" tall - close enough for 2x the size.

So I wondered how many she would eat, and how many I would have to eat before becoming full.

She ate 2 of them, at 2 oz's each, for a total of 4 oz's.

So I am left with this: I need an 8 oz (1/2 lb) hot dog to fill me up and a bowl of GBC.

How big should a wiener be to fill you up?? Ever try the 1 LB ones like in Vegas? Too much for me - but maybe just right for you....

2. Doogies, in Newington CT has two-footers. That should be enough

for anyone.

Damn, when I see one it makes me wish I was young again, and able to ingest 2,000 calories in a sitting. Can't do it anymore.

3. Reminds me of that 72 oz Steak in Amarillo you can get for free

If you eat it within an hour (long with the 1 lb baked potato and salad). The Big Texan the place is called (good food there BTW).

The only thing I can take that is 72oz in an hour would be a beer :)

4. I just read about that place again recently. That's about enough to make you go

vegetarian, to eat that much beef, isn't it?

72 ounces of beer is only half a gallon...easy to do that in an hour. But steak? Yuck.

Its amazing how that happens over time. The dogs smile...she smiles...they are all good. LOL. The hummingbird diet is working well for her. :)

7. Don't forget 5 y.o. are more active than adults, they are growing as well

If she is bouncing around like a normal kid I wouldn't worry. She'll burn off any excess.
