1. Now comes the tricky bit: saving.
It's so much fun to spend!

8. True. I've already fought the urge to buy a parrot and a new monitor...
The current one works (and LCD monitors just aren't suited for graphic design anyway. Still, hoarding and bleeding edging are not my MO anymore. )

Besides, updated applications, combined with saving, is what I need to do. And education; I'll be saving up to get education... to do something. Not sure if it'll be in IT or ad design, but something positive... especially with my wit... /bigego

7. Time, credit counseling service, the occasional suffering, and
I did borrow a teensy bit out of a life insurance account, but I'd rather pay back into that. Or cash it to avoid the interest and pay back into it anyway, which is my continual goal. Especially if my job goes out the door, I'd rather have it hinging on something that's useful only if I'm dead.

10. Congratulations!!
That is an amazing accomplishment. You should be very proud of that. Very few of us have the discipline or resources to do that.

11. I was urged to not declare bankruptcy...
And got freaked once the bankruptcy 'reform' took place.

Especially in a field being offshored.

And as recently as July 2006 thought about suicide, even when so close in July that I made an attempt and changed my mind at probably just the right moment and drove to the ER... (which didn't do my pocketbook much good either, but it was worth it...)

14. Just credit counseling.
Took a while. And they, at the time, said I should consider bankruptcy, but I ultimately choose the high ground and hoped for the best.

15. Well, I really admire you for that.
I went the bankruptcy route, so I know how hard you had to work to finish paying off that amount.

16. You made the right decision
I, for one, am glad you are here. Your wit and insight are appreciated b many of us. I went through a rough patch myself over a year ago (personal, not financial). DU became therapeutic for me and helped me get through being exiled by my extended family. I am officially a black sheep because I do crazy things like go to protests, vote Democratic, and tell the truth.

It's amazing how time dulls alot of the wounds we experience. Healing happens in small increments for most of us. I hope today your milestone represents a healing event for your psyche.

I am also really glad to hear that you reached out for help when you needed it the most. And now today you get to commemorate a significant accomplishment.

I'd give you a hug smiley, but I'm uncomfortable getting all touch feely. I'm a guy's guy. I'll just tap you on the shoulder instead and say "You..."
