As host of Bravo's Inside The Actors Studio, James Lipton has interviewed more than 80 of contemporary film and theater's most noteworthy contributors. Himself an accomplished director, choreographer, producer, writer of stage and screen and published author, Mr. Lipton has been instrumental in creating what he refers to as "a unique archive" of in-depth looks at the craft of acting.
Both as a writer and as a producer, Mr. Lipton has brought over 25 variety specials, movies and performing arts programs to both network and cable television. His affiliations include ABC, CBS, NBC, Showtime, dick clark cinema and Aaron Spelling Productions. Mr. Lipton's specials include Jimmy Carter's Inaugural Gala (the first Presidential Inaugural Gala ever televised), The Stars Salute Israel at Thirty, Happy Birthday Bob, a three hour salute to Bob Hope's seventy-fifth birthday, an unprecedented series of twelve Bob Hope Birthday Specials and two salutes to country singer Loretta Lynn, Loretta Lynn: The Lady/actorsstudio.the Legend and Loretta In Big Apple County. Mr. Lipton has also written screenplays for a number of "Movies of the Week", including Copacabana, Outfoxed, Alaska Men, Back to the Beach and Mirrors, a film produced by Mr. Lipton and based on his original novel. As President of Jim Lipton Productions, Mr. Lipton has packaged Monteith and Rand and The Peking Opera for Showtime on Broadway, earning critical acclaim from. Mr. Lipton is also the author of An Exaltation of Larks, the best-selling, highly-praised book which has become a publishing classic, remaining in print from 1968 to the present.
