Someone just tried to BREAK into my condo while I was home!
I'm sitting at the computer in our "office" when I hear someone come up the stairs. The door knob is shaken and my dog runs to the door and starts barking. I then hear someone hauling ass down the stairs. I didn't think anything of it at first because it might have been one of the other tenets leaving something at the door. But when I opened the door nothing was there and the footprints in the snow showed someone running AWAY from the condo. So I called the cops and they looked around, took my name and told me to report anything out of the ordinary. What makes this even more strange is that a week or so ago, my wife was up at about midnight (I was sleeping) and she heard some odd noises like someone on the stairs and a car was running. The dog started barking and acting strange. My wife came and got me but we didn't see anything. We didn't call the cops that night because my wife didn't really know what to make of it all. But it now makes sense as I think someone was casing the place because we have the condo up for sale.

THANK GOD FOR MY DOG "SABOT"!

1. Thank Goddess you're okay
What a great dog you have. You better go to the pet store tomorrow and pick up some doggie treats for your canine hero.

6. Sabot will be getting some treats tomorrow that's for sure. The
funny thing is that he's a really sweet, mellow dog who loves everyone he meets. BTW, he's a 2yr old golden retriever/chow mix. Absolutely adorable dog.

2. Yes, thank God for Sabot!
That is really scary. I've been there, except the idiot did get in while I was sleeping. It was absolutely horrible. Animals are wonderful and I am so glad that everyone is okay.

3. Glad you're alright
The place where I work was burglarized over the weekend. The bad guys weren't in for very long and obviously mostly grabbed some stuff at random. I didn't lose anything of my own but it still sucks.

Of course, we're now making sure sure the gate will be firmly barred in case the horses try to get back in the barn...

7. It wasn't me.
I was at a Howard Dean house party!;-)

But, thankfully you're O.K. I have 2 large dogs, and usually leave the doors unlocked. 1 is a Lab-golden mix who weighs 130#. He's the biggest lovable lunk you'll ever find, but I wouldn't want to be an the wrong side of his jaws. The other is a 85# female Golden-Newfoundland mix. She's the loudmouth. Sweet, but you ain't allowed in here unless daddy lets you in.

Make sure you buy them LOTS of treats!

11. I had a Drill Sergeant in the Army that had a dog named Sabot.
I was a tanker and thought that was a different but cool name.

9. Is there any way to prevent another try?
If I were you, I'd be blocking the stairs, putting up surveillance cameras and making sure that the area gets additional lighting. This sounds very dangerous to me.

12. The condo has many lights and the tenets all look out for each other.
A surveliance camera and blocking the stairs would be impractical. The dog scared them off this time.

10. Probably just some self-starter...
Yeah, when the factory closed because all the jobs were shipped to China, this lucky guy got the OPPORTUNITY to start his own business and become a self-made success like GWB. While he still had unemployment benefits, lots of other employers helped him to stay the course of self-determination, refusing to undermine his bid for greatness by sticking him in some dead-end job that could only offer steady employment and insurance. Once his benefits ran out, and the savings was gone, he knew the time to start his own enterprise was at hand. So, this young go getter is checking doorknobs, looking for an opening to secure capital and inventory so he can enter the free market, thus raising more capital and creating wealth in return for his entrepreneurial ways. With continued success, he can consider adding staff, and expanding into other endeavors such as automotive, "pharmaceuticals", companionship procurement, and high-intensity leveraged bank transactions.

Thank God the Bush economy will create so many MORE of these entrepreneurs as the "launch pad" of benefits ends, and truly motivated, unregulated free enterprise becomes the only clear choice.

The man trying to break into your condo may very well be the next Kenneth Lay. It's simple trickle-down economics folks!

(Sorry... was channelling a freeper there!)
