I'll be spending New Years eve with my cat...and sick in bed
I just called out of work, I've got a fever, sore throat, hacking up some sort of bizarre mucus and all around feeling generally crappy.

So much for New Years Eve

2. Just how bizarre is the mucus?
If you've got a secondary bacterial infection, you can get pills.

Get them now, before your doctor goes skiing.

4. You get to be SICK? Congratulations.
I work an all-night shift at a TV station. I am not ALLOWED to be sick. There isn't enough backup personnel to cover me if I do get sick (it was murder finding someone able to work on my nights off).

I can only be sick on my days off, and I have to be well enough to stagger back into work when those are done. Or guess what? They fire me and find someone else to do the job.

Admittedly, I'm not as bad off as the people who work at Wal-Mart or other slave-driving companies, who have to work sick or they can't pay their rent. But I envy you guys who actually get sick days and get to use them, sick or not. The only times I've ever been allowed sick days was when I was vomiting uncontrollably into the control room trash can, and management didn't want to pay for any auto air fresheners to get rid of the smell. And that is only a SLIGHT exaggeration.

So as you lie in your comfy bed, enjoying the drugs you're on, watching Oprah and Martha Stewart, think of us out here in the real world, swigging down non-drowsy-version Thereflu and trying to keep from passing out.

12. Isn't it nice to have a warm kitty body to snuggle up to you when you...
aren't feeling well? Another benefit of being owned by a kitty! Feel better and take care of yourself.

13. Abbie is just portable love
I pick him up and take him to the room where I am at and the love just goes with him.

I got him a new cat toy catnip treat.

He's on my bed right now keeping my space warm.

How could I have ever survived without a cat??

14. don't let it go too long
You don't want to get bacterial pneumonia. If you take a turn for the worse, call your doctor.
