4. They have obviously never eaten there!
When I went to Atlanta for a trade show, people would come in and out of my showroom, talking about this thing called "Chick-Fil-A." "Are you going to Chick-Fil-A?" "What time do they open?" "The lines are sooo long...", etc. I finally broke down and got the skinny on Chick-Fil-A from someone. They are apparently revered with something close to a gourmand's religiosity. I am ashamed to say that I partook, and it really was awfully good...

Please don't tell me I have to boycott them...I'd have nothing to eat the next time I go to Atlanta!

6. Some people have a problem with the religious aspect of the business
They're also big GOP (and Zell Miller) donors.

I just can't boycott them, though. Those chicken sandwhiches are so good. It's just about the only fast food I will eat.

8. So that's it.
Hell, I'd have to boycott In N Out Burger, the place that stamps bible verses on all their cups.

But I do boycott Carl's Jr./Hardee's. Carl Karcher, Jr., is a well-known right-winger in So. Cali. (if he's even still alive). His main gig is contributing to right-to-forced-birth causes.

9. In N Out is the other fast food I eat
We don't have either in our state, so I only get to eat Chick-Fil-A when I'm visiting my family, and In N Out when I'm visiting my inlaws. I don't think my one chicken sandwich and one burger a year is really going to help the GOP.

19. See my post below about all the scholarships given by

Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy.

As long as I'm defending Georgians, I'll add that Zell Miller was a good governor and started a state-funded pre-K program and a state-funded Hope Scholarship Program. The scholarships go to anyone who graduates from a GA high school with a "B" average, and they keep getting it all through college if they keep their grades up.

So I can see why Truett would support Zell! Zell's been a DINO in D.C. but he wasn't that way down here. Go figure.

2. Chic-Fil-A
Comes with waffel fries.

No Bertha V, I've got no idea why someone would boycott a wonderful chicken sandwich like that, but if they do, screw 'em, that's just that much more for the rest of us.

The Peach Bowl is Clemson University vs. University of Tennessee.

In other words, a sea of orange. The network will need to run something along the bottom of the screen that says "Do not adjust the color on your TV set" or something or people are going to think their TV's are acting up.

7. Tennessee!
Mrs. V.'s home! Hmmm... maybe will have to watch. It would be better though if peaches came flying out of the tube each time anyone scored.

Mmmmm.... peaches....

but it wasn't the Chick-fil-a Peach bowl yet. Tech beat State on a last second field goal.

22. LOL
I thought I was the only one who didn't get this at first...that is unless you're just kidding. ;)

I guess that's what happens when you're from somewhere where they don't have one like me.

It's pronounced Chick-Fill-"A"..("A" as in "A", B, C, D)..like Chick Filet...lol.

12. Took me a while to figure this out
The chick-fil-a peach bowl is a football game named after a southern fast-food joint. I came into this thread thinking maybe it was some kind of innovative new frozen dinner.

15. well...
I have to give them a few props for one thing:

The signs in front of their stores, and on their website say:

"Admittedly, closing all of our restaurants every Sunday makes us a rarity in this day and age. But it's a little habit that has always served us well, so we're planning to stick with it.

Our founder, Truett Cathy, wanted to ensure that every Chick-fil-A employee and restaurant operator had an opportunity to worship, spend time with family and friends or just plain rest from the work week. Made sense then, still makes sense now."

At least they didn't say:

"We're not open Sunday, because we're in church, unlike you heathens that are out here trying to buy Chicken Sandwiches. You're going to hell because you aren't in church, like us Chick-fil-A employees."

So, hey, if they want to close Sunday for one reason or another, more power to them, its their business. Lots of businesses around here are closed one day out of the week. For some its Sunday, for some its Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. There's even one store that's closed on Saturday only. As long as they don't get into my business about it, I'm fine with it.

17. Truett Cathy (Chick--fil-A founder) also gives scholarships

to his restaurant chain's employees. The website says the program began in 1973, had given away $10 million by 1994, and "to date" has awarded over $16.5 million in scholarships.

And there are NO strings attached -- students don't have to go back to work at Chick-fil-A after college.

I also know that Truett Cathy and his wife have given a lot of money to other good causes that aren't listed on the Chick-fil-A site, so their Christianity means more to them than just closing the restaurants on Sundays.

Another thing I know about Truett Cathy, who is no spring chicken
is that he loves to ride Harleys! My husband and I met the Cathys at a Harley sponsored charity fund-raising event a few years ago and I think Mr. Cathy must have been in his late seventies then, maybe older.

16. I love chick-fil-a
I only know one around here (Boston-area), in a mall, but whenever I got to that mall, I have to get one of those chicken sandwiches. And some carrot-raisin salad. Yum! It's only been up here for a few years, I think. I had never heard of it, but my friend had been in the service in the South and he remembered the restaurant from back then. But a lot of people in this area still aren't familiar with it.

21. Those defiant cows are on billboards all around the Atlanta area --

and they're 3-D, cows hanging off billboards, etc. I don't know if you can tell that from the photos. . . I'm not that crazy about the sandwiches but they serve a lof of other foods, including breakfast whenever they're open.
